REJECTS
Salon des Refuses from the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition
July 7th -10th, 2011
In the spirit of the 1863 Salon des Refuses, artists rejected from the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition create their own show. As Napoleon III said: “Let the people judge”
The shear number of applicants every year to the massive Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition at Nathan Phillips Square means that some of the most dynamic and expressive artists are necessarily rejected. For the last two years a group of these artists turned their disappointment to opportunity and created the Rejects show.
In the first year eighteen Rejects took over Lennox Gallery at Ossington and Queen. The show was an overwhelming success. Last year the Rejects took over Propeller Gallery, a long standing artist run space in the Queen West core. Propeller is a perfect fit for the heart of this show and we are delighted that once again they will host the 2011 Rejects.
